NCFE academic value

8 UCAS Tariff Points

Scholars are awarded the NCFE Level 3 Award upon successful completion of the programme, strengthening their university applications with tangible, recognised credentials.

What are UCAS points?

UCAS points are used by many UK universities to measure a student’s academic achievement and readiness for undergraduate study. Points are awarded based on grades in recognised qualifications such as A-Levels and other regulated awards.

Universities use these points to compare applicants fairly and assess academic strength across different educational backgrounds.

What do these 8 UCAS points mean?

The additional 8 points provide a tangible academic advantage by strengthening a student’s overall application profile. They reinforce existing school grades and offer formal evidence of success in a university-style learning environment.

How does the NCFE Award help university applications?

The NCFE Level 3 Award strengthens university applications by providing students with a formally regulated UK qualification that demonstrates academic achievement beyond their school curriculum. Successful completion awards 8 UCAS Tariff points, which are added directly to a student’s overall UCAS total and can help meet or exceed entry requirements for many UK universities.
Beyond the tariff value, the qualification shows that a student has completed assessed, university-style work such as research, analysis, and structured assignments. This provides credible evidence of independent learning, critical thinking, and readiness for higher education.
For international applications, including the US, the NCFE Award signals maturity, commitment, and the ability to succeed in a demanding academic environment.

Why this matters for US admissions

US universities increasingly value students who can demonstrate readiness for college-level academics, not just strong grades or test scores. OSP helps students prove this through structured learning, assessment, and reflection – positioning them as motivated, academically mature candidates in a competitive admissions pool.
